'Light Weaver' (watercolour and gouache on paper)
painted in Lockdown 2020 in response to the theme 'Safe Houses' - a fund raiser for people caring for others with Covid 19. My first response was to paint an insect nestled inside a flower but while I searched for inspiration this image of the spider's web floated into my consciousness. I remembered this photo I'd taken 3 years earlier, when I had been stressed about an ongoing problem. At the time I was walking round my garden feeling anxious, when I saw this spiders web shining in the morning sunlight and it stopped me in my tracks. It reminded me that I am the maker of my own destiny and to let go of my anger and fear, stop battling mentally with my problems and allow the unseen creative possibilities of life to unfold more easily. When I found the photo, I realised it was filled with light and orbs, which only show up on photographs.Painting this was a healing and magical experience
